The National Standards for Programme Accreditation was approved by the NHTEB in its first meeting in 2017. It is a requirement under the Higher Education (General Provisions) Act 2014 for all programmes offered by institutions to meet these set of standards in order for their programmes to be accredited and registered in the National Registers. These programmes standards will be supported by the PNG Qualifications Framework once it is approved. Any programmes that are on offer and do not meet the requirements set in these standards are deemed illegal under the Act.
