The Department of Higher Education Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) conduct the Annual Survey of Institutions of Higher Education (ASIHE) each year to track the sectors progress against the Government’s development targets. Also, the ASIHE provides information for policy formulation, development programme planning and project management and most importantly is evidence-based decision making. The report contains an analysis of key higher education indicators such as graduates, enrolments, staffing. This data is further broken down to give an indication of gender equity in each of these three areas. The report highlights important facts in the key facts box.
Continuous efforts are being made each year to strengthen the data collection process to improve data quality. DHERST officers visit most Institutions to provide guidance on completing the ASHIEH return. However, the ASIHE database generates estimates where a Higher Education Institution (HEI) has not provided data, using historical information.
