This notice serves to inform the Higher Education Sector Stakeholders: Students, Parents and Guardians, Sponsor, Corporate Sponsors, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) both Universities and Colleges and the General Public that the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology’s (DHERST) Tertiary Education Study Assistance Scheme (TESAS) Committee had approved the 2017 continuing students TESAS listing in January 2017.

Considering the 2017 DHERST Budget Appropriation and also the Country’s financial constraints, the DHERST’s TESAS Committee also made a decision not to accommodate any additional scholarship Listings submitted after the closing date.

The TESAS scholarships awarded to all HEIs each year is based on the academic results received from the respective Institutions.

The DHERST is not involved in assessing and grading students’ academic programs or calculates GPA as these are HEIs’ responsibilities. DHERST is only responsible for awarding of scholarships based on the results provided by HEIs and the number of TESAS allocated to each academic program.

We would like to bring to Stakeholders attention that it was also indicated earlier in the previous Public Notice that continuing students whose name do not appear on the initial list must consult their respective HEIs to establish their progressive status for 2017 academic year.

DHERST feels responsible for informing the public of the processes involved in awarding TESAS.
